New year, new you? This blog is here to help you kickstart a healthy lifestyle which will last. It doesn’t involve intense workouts or impossible diets, just a few simple changes which can help you be the best version of yourself. It’s all about eating well and looking after yourself. From healthy breakfast cereals to trying new kinds of exercise, there are a number of small but effective changes you can make this January.
Start the day with a healthy breakfast
You should always start as you mean to go on - that’s why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Choosing a simple, tasty and healthy breakfast cereal is one of the easiest ways to get yourself into a good mindset for looking after your body. Whether you prefer a simple bowl of granola or muesli with all the toppings, make sure your breakfast is delicious and nutritious.
Drink plenty of water
Although it seems obvious, your body needs regular hydration to work to its full potential and many of us are guilty of not drinking enough water. If you’ve been feeling tired or suffering from headaches, the solution might be as simple as needing to drink more water throughout the day. Invest in a reusable water bottle and you’ll be able to stay hydrated on the go.
Try a new form of exercise
Eating healthily is all well and good but it’s important to combine it with the right exercise. You might choose to join your local gym or start a new class. However, we understand that money and time restrictions can prevent people from enjoying these more structured forms of exercise. If that sounds like you - why not simply try going for a jog? Or testing out a yoga video in your bedroom? There are so many different kinds of exercise, you’ll be able to find something that works for you. Our tip: connect with a friend who also wants to start so you can set some goals together.
Eat plenty and eat well
If you eat healthy meals, it can be tempting to reward yourself with something naughty in between. While we think eating plenty is important, you should be eating the right sort of food! Don’t just stop at having a bowl of healthy breakfast cereal in the morning, make sure the snacks you eat throughout the day are giving your body the right nutrients. Homemade snacks are a great way to make sure you’re not eating too many additives or too much refined sugar. Set yourself a regular sleeping schedule
It can be hard to commit to a healthy breakfast when you haven’t had enough sleep! That’s why we recommend setting yourself a regular sleeping schedule, so that you not only enjoy breakfast but also make the most out of your day. A useful tip is to try not to excite your brain too late at night. Take some peaceful time for yourself, away from screens and worries, and you should find it much easier to fall asleep.
